December 4, 2007 -- Professor James Cox testified before the U.S. Department of Treasury Advisory Committee on the Auditing Profession at 4:10 p.m. EST on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007. He discussed the sustainability of the accounting profession in the face of potentially catastrophic liability exposure.

Professor Cox is the Brainerd Currie Professor of Law and is internationally recognized for his expertise in corporate and securities law. In addition to his texts, Financial Information, Accounting and the Law; Cox and Hazen on Corporations, which received the Association of American Publishers National Book Award for Best New Professional/Scholarly Legal Book for 1995; and Securities Regulations Cases and Materials (with Hillman & Langevoort), Professor Cox has published extensively in the areas of market regulation and corporate governance. He frequently testifies before Congress on issues relating to insider trading, class actions, and market reform issues.
He is a member of the American Law Institute and ABA Committee on Corporate Laws and a past member of the New York Stock Exchange Legal Advisory Committee, the National Association of Securities Dealers Legal Advisory Board, and the Fulbright Law Discipline Review Committee.
