The paper looks at the issue of sanctity of contract in how U.S. courts treat international debt contracts -- an issue that is likely to be of immense relevance given the current financial crisis.

One of the very interesting questions given specific attention to is how, in the aftermath of the Argentine financial crisis some years ago, the result was legal empowerment of women's cooperatives. These cooperatives, in many cases took over the bankrupt factories.
