Professor Hebdige has taught at various universities and arts colleges in Western Europe, the United States, Canada, and Australia. In addition to being the Director of Interdisciplinary
Humanities Center at the University of California in Santa Barbara, Professor Hebdige also teaches in Film Studies as well as Art Studio at U.C. at Santa Barbara. Professor Hebdige is a
graduate of the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies, Birmingham University, United Kingdom. His career in academia is complimented by his career as a writer and critic. He has written
extensively on contemporary art, design and music, the media, and critical theory. His current interests include the integration of autobiography, fiction and mixed media in critical writing
and pedagogy.
