- American Bar Association: The ABA's site includes the ABA Journal, selected section publications and newsletters, statistics on the legal profession, lists of ABA member groups, CLE materials, books, and other products and services for the law community.
- North Carolina Bar Association: The NCBA is the state's voluntary organization for lawyers. It provides links to useful professional resources, including information on law practice management and technology, volunteer and pro bono opportunities, and a variety of specialized committees and practice-area divisions. It also hosts a good deal of CLE materials. Current law students in North Carolina may join the NCBA for free; membership includes full access to the Fastcase research service.
- State and Local Bar Associations: Links to websites and contact information for state and local bar associations, from FindLaw.com.
- ABA Approved Law Schools: Also includes lists arranged by public or private school, provisionally approved schools, schools on probation, and a link to information contained in required disclosures by law schools on post-graduate employment, among other things.

- Law School Admission Council: LSAC administers the LSAT (Law School Admission Test) four times per year, and provides study resources and information about the law school application process.
- U.S. ABA Approved Law Schools (Google Maps): interactive map of currently-approved law schools.
- U.S. News & World Report Law School Rankings: The magazine's annual graduate school rankings list includes influential evaluations of U.S. law schools.

- Directories of Lawyers Research Guide: Resources from the J. Michael Goodson Law Library.
- Martindale.com: Online access to the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory with biographical information on attorneys. Find by name, firm, area of practice, location or language using the advanced search feature. Separate lists for US government lawyers (in Washington, D.C.) and corporate counsel.
- FindLaw Lawyer Directory: Search for attorneys by name, office, location, practice area and by keyword. Entries contain name, firm, address, phone and type of practice.
- HG.org: Self-listing database of law firms, experts, and alternative dispute resolution professionals, etc. Contains many international listings.

- Legal Ethics Research Guide: Resources from the J. Michael Goodson Law Library.
- North Carolina State Bar: This organization regulates the practice of law in North Carolina. On their website, you can find a directory of lawyers licensed to practice in the state, professional ethics opinions, and information about lawyers who have been disciplined.
- Researching Attorney Discipline (FindLaw): Links to lawyer disciplinary organizations for all fifty states.
