Jesse Galen Beardsworth ’06 has been awarded a Fulbright-Garcia Robles Grant to study international business in Mexico for the 2006-2007 academic year. The grant will allow Beardsworth to intern at a Mexico based corporation or law firm while taking classes in the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) MBA program.

Beardsworth is one of 16 recipients of the prestigious Fulbright-Garcia Robles Grant, which honors U.S. Senator J. William Fulbright and former Mexican Ambassador Alfonso Garcia Robles, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. The award, administered by COMEXUS, an independent organization funded by the governments of Mexico and the United States, sponsors study in Mexico in the areas of public administration, public policy, culture, society, and politics.

Beardsworth said he is extremely grateful for the support of the Duke Faculty and alumni who assisted him in the application process, particularly that of Brainerd Currie Professor of Law Jim Cox, a Fulbright recipient.

“Professor Cox was especially generous with his time, helping me plan my application and advising on the intricacies of the evaluation process.”

The Fulbright program, founded in 1946 and sponsored by the U.S Department of State, is the U.S. government's premier scholarship program and the largest U.S. international exchange program. It was established in 1946 to foster mutual understanding among nations through research, education, and cultural exchange.
