November 07, 2019 • 12:30 PM • Law School 4047

Please join us as we hear from Bill Coen, who just completed a five year stint as Secretary General of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS). The BCBS is the global standard setter for the prudential regulation of banks and provides a forum for regular cooperation on banking supervisory matters. Its 45 members comprise central bankers and banking supervisors from 28 jurisdictions. As Secretary General, Bill led the effort to develop and define the BCBS's strategy, taking account of the varying jurisdictional views on banking supervisory and regulatory matters, with the ultimate objective of reaching consensus on global guidelines, standards and best practices. In this role, and throughout his 20 year career at the BCBS, Bill played a leading role in reshaping the regulation of the global financial system. Lunch will be provided.
