    Susan supports recruitment programming, including On Campus Interviews (OCI), Spring Interview Program (SIP), and job fairs. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before joining the Law School, Susan taught English in a public high school, then later worked as a program coordinator at the Duke Talent Identification Program. At TIP, she managed weekend and summer programs, including hiring staff and supervising program sites.

    Erin cultivates employer engagement at the Law School, and oversees all aspects of student recruitment programs, including On Campus Interviews (OCI), Spring Interview Program (SIP), 1L Practice Interview Program, regional programs and job fairs. Erin is a graduate of Beloit College and worked with a number of non-profits in Wisconsin, New York, and Durham prior to joining the Law School.

    Kelly is responsible for maintaining Career Center financial records. In addition, she tracks various information critical to the Career Center's success. She also assists the recruiting director with various Duke Law School recruiting programs, such as Spring and Fall OCI. Kelly attended Vanderbilt University and William Smith College. She graduated with a B.A. in Economics. She moved here from Upstate New York with her husband and son in 2006.

  • Jennifer Caplan

    Jennifer works with students and alumni, especially those interested in private practice and/or transactional work. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Creative Writing from The Johns Hopkins University, Jennifer earned a Masters in Publishing from NYU and worked in the editorial departments of two academic publishers, developing history and political science titles. An interest in intellectual property issues prompted her to attend law school and after graduating from Duke Law, she worked at the Silicon Valley office of Fenwick & West LLP, where her practice focused on trade secret, trademark and patent litigation.

    Bruce Elvin has served as the Associate Dean and Director of Duke's Career & Professional Development Center since 2003.  A graduate of Stanford University and Duke Law School, Bruce worked for two years following law school at Ludwig-Maximilians Universitaet School of Law, in Munich, Germany. While in Munich, Bruce also earned a Magister (Masters) in German Law, graduating with "high honors" and writing his Thesis on Steuerkonsequenten grenzueberschreitender Zinsswaps, (“Tax Consequences of Cross-Border Interest Rate Swaps”). Bruce returned to the United States to earn an LLM in Taxation from New York University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Tax Law Review.

  • Sara E. Emley

    Sara is the principal adviser to students and alumni interested in judicial clerkships.  She graduated from the University of Michigan and Duke Law, with a joint JD/LLM in International and Comparative Law.  After graduation, Sara clerked for The Honorable Stephanie Seymour on United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.  She then moved to Washington, DC where she spent 11 years as an attorney at WilmerHale and 10 years as a partner at BuckleySandler.  Sara's practice focused on financial services regulation.

  • Oleg Kobelev

    Oleg Kobelev is responsible for directing the Office of International Studies at Duke Law School. Prior to becoming associate dean, Kobelev spent 10 years working in positions of progressive responsibility at the Law School, with a particular focus on advising students and alumni on career and professional development opportunities. He also served as the administrative director of the Duke-Geneva Institute in Transnational Law from 2010 until 2015.

    Lara is a certified project manager responsible for communications and student resources; survey design, implementation, and data analysis; and optimization of organizational processes and technologies. A USAF veteran, Lara earned a bachelor's degree from UNC Chapel Hill in 2014, then spent five years in higher, executive, and continuing education administration before joining Duke Law in 2020.

    Jabrina works closely with international LL.M. students on their career planning and professional development and is a member of both the Career & Professional Development Center and International Studies Office teams. Her professional work experience spans a variety of organizations, including a boutique law firm, nonprofit organizations, corporations and institutions of higher education.  Most recently, Ms. Robinson served as Dean of Students at Siena College in Albany, New York.  Prior to this role, she worked as career counselor for Duke Law School.

  • Ashley Walker

    Before joining Duke Law, Ashley worked in private practice for seven years as an associate with the law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.  Her practice focused on complex litigation matters, with an emphasis on white collar defense, government investigations, and whistleblower cases.  Outside of advising clients, Ashley was involved with the firm’s associate mentoring program and served on the firm’s committees for professional development and diversity and inclusion.  Ashley received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, and her B.A. in Public Policy Studies from Duke University (Trinity, ’07).  She is excited to be able to return to Duke and the opportunity to advise law students about legal practice and the importance of strategic professional development.

Stella Boswell directs the Office of Public Interest and Pro Bono. The Office promotes values of service and community leadership for all students and the broader Duke Law community. The Office also provides career counseling for students interested in government and public interest careers, including summer internships, entry level positions, honors programs and fellowships, and oversees the Public Interest and Public Service Certificate Program. The Office partners with the Career and Professional Development Center on providing advice and resources for all students. Through the Pro Bono Program, the Office partners with nonprofit advocacy groups, government entities and private attorneys to provide law related work in a broad array of areas, thus giving law students the opportunity to develop their legal skills while in service to others. The Office also: (1) oversees the law school’s public interest funding for summer internships, interview travel and conferences; (2) initiates and supports public interest programming and events, including an annual public interest retreat, a speakers’ series, and a public interest and pro bono recognition dinner; and (3) administers and provides structure for the Certificate in Public Interest and Public Service Law.  

Bethan Eynon

Bethan joined the law school in early 2017. Working in the Public Interest & Pro Bono Office, she directs career programming and counseling and develops resources for students pursuing government and public interest careers. Bethan counsels students seeking internships and post-graduate positions, including assistance with fellowship proposals and government honors program applications. Bethan works closely with the Career and Professional Development Center to provide career exploration and support to all students. She also advises students in the Public Interest and Public Service Certificate Program and several student organizations. She develops resources and collaborates with students on events such as the annual Public Interest Retreat and Duke Law’s attendance at the Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair.
